Drunk Driver Sues Family of Cyclist he Killed

So, first, read my article below on the sometime absurdity of the US Justice system [4 year old sued for riding tryke on sidewalk in New York] Then, shake your head slowly. Next, read the following commentary from Bicycling mag: Driver Sues Family of Deceased Cyclist. Seems that a reckless driver was convicted of manslaughter for mowing down a young kid (who was simply riding his bike), while racing along at nearly 150 km (90 mph), while drunk. And he had 5 previous convictions for drunk driving. Wow. Then, with classic chutzhpah, he counter sues the parent's of the young kid he killed, claiming that the boy was "contributory negligent" for...wait for it..."not wearing a helmet". 'cause wearing a helmet would really have make a HUGE difference when a car slams into you at nearly 150km an hour - maybe if you are friggin' Clarke Kent you'd have a chance, otherwise - not so much. So, now, shake your head again, more slowly, both in disgust and frustration.

In cases like this, I can only mutter:

peace out
Johnny Boy
