BREAKING NEWS: Toronto Triathlon, July 22

well, you heard it here 1st!!

Yesterday, with Simon Whitfield announcing the dets, the Toronto Triathlon Festival was unveiled:
Taking place July 22, the course will unfold with Ontario Place as the start: the swim in the Tor Harbour at Ontario Place [quit yur moaning - it's clean - and wetsuit legal], ride the Gardiner up and along the DVP [looks like up to Lawrence, just below the 401; hilly but fast ride back down] and the run - looks like out and back on Lakeshore West [or Gardiner?]
"Race Link"
**way cool - and I hear from sources the race will also be a Q-RACE for the 2013 World's in London! 2 spots per age group.
But the $99 entry - youser! what's up with that? ya, I know, if you want a world class event in an urban setting, ya gotta pay for it. Sigh - more entry fees to save my pennies for - again!). And the race already looks really professionally coordinated: great website, all necessary details, and a safe, fast, urban course. So the entry fee is right on par with the other marquis events in triathlon and runnin; hell, the NYC tri entry is over $200 [AMER!], so maybe we all just have to readjust to the new paradigm - you gets whats ya pays for! [there had better be sweet schwag and tech shirts!].

great news for triathlon, racing and Toronto!

see ya in the water,
johnny boy

  1. On the upside for your $99 Canadian, you get a nicer pool than the one in NYC, with the added bonus of not having to buy travel insurance.
